Puja

On my one-month birthday Mama, Papa, big brother and I went to the Hindu temple in Ottawa for a special puja - a Vinayaka Ashtothara! I wore a pretty pink dress and my brother wore a dazzling white kurta that Aunty Jesal brought all the way from India.

We assembled a pretty tray of red flowers, apples and cherries for the puja. The priest presented the fruits and flowers to the god and then gave us some back after they had been blessed. We couldn't take photos inside the mantap, so here are some pics from the steps outside.

Mama looked so pretty in her cream and white sari!

I was very comfy in her lap so I quickly fell asleep.

Canada Day

I had lots of fun on Canada Day. Big brother Avimanyu took Mama, Papa and me to Andrew Haydon Park. Here, he is riding a big horsey! (khudreh)

Then he demonstrated how to drive a big rig truck!

Mama and I liked that!

Then Papa took him to see Obama's helicopter (?!) I like Obama!

Why Obama? Well, just a few days earlier, Manyu and Papa were reading a biography of Obama. Manyu was most impressed by the President's helicopter! And that is how Canada Day segued into Independence Day!
